Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas)

“Some have claimed that cutting the ‘extra payments’ to Medicare Advantage plans reduces insurance company profits. The fact is 75 percent of those ‘extra payments’ go directly to better benefits for seniors under current law.

Unfortunately, the Finance Committee bill will take away those benefits from seniors enrolled in Medicare Advantage. The Finance Committee proposal cuts nearly $130 billion from the Medicare Advantage program. Common sense says you cannot do that without affecting seniors’ benefits.” — (October 8, 2009 delivered remarks on the Senate floor)

Dear John, I have been on SS Disability for 19 years, do to a kidnapping and rape, I can't help my generic background, or what happened to have preexisting conditions, nor my PTSD and depression. If there were more Psychs in this state of TX you would cut down crime, abuse, etc. I have tried for 2 1/2 yrs to get into a psych and can't. I also want to say, if there needs to be S.S. fixes, in the health care, you have to accept a car as a need for those on disability. It's legal to HAVE to have ins. if you have a car, if you are on Disability, you ARE going to be at the dr. more because of your disability. In wheelchair or mental, you are at the DR. more because of your disability you didn't ask to have. They need to change that. Also, you all have to know, mental affects physical, and physical affects mental. It's all a vicious circle. But they are combined. I admire you to stick up for those that depend on Medicare to have Ins. But, we are on Mecdicare, because we can't afford Ins. on our limited Income. That is why we are on it, and food stamps. We can't afford it. And yet, this new Ins. Reform, isn't to help those that can't pay for it, as the welthy are hating us, that can't afford it, that we didn't ask for to have to be in this situation. I would rather be dependable, and make $2000. a month that $702. a month. I have no choice. I hope you can stay strong for us that aren't strong enough to even have a vote, or a voice. Please, Help the Helpless. I didn't ask to be this way. I just don't want to have to depend on others welfare to see if I can see a doctor, or have my 9th surgery, I don't want, but have no choice. I am only 42 yrs. old, and 78 lbs. I didn't ask for this. I just want security I had, that is slipping out of my hands, and the gov. is scaring the crap out of me. I thought With Obama's mom, he said her dying wish was to help her kind of people, and yet, it is just the opposite. He wants to rule it all. I don't want to get permission from Obama as to weather I can have neck surgery for my 3rd fusion, as I have put off this pain and surgery for 6 yrs, I am scared. Please, stick up for what Medicare really stands for, The Hopeless that didn't ask to be this way, not the loosers, looking for a way out. Thanks for hearing me. Sincerely, Amy Keenan
